“Southern Gothic” is a costume borne out of my senior capstone project at the University of South Florida “Costumes in African-American Dance Traditions”. This costume was inspired by Black women in Southern Gothic literature and movies, as well as Dance Theatre of Harlem’s “Creole Giselle”. Corset drafted and sewn by me. Costume styled by me.
